The
Present Product Line
Over
the past 36 years the company has developed and is marketing a wide
range of unique environmental analytical instruments.

Explosives Detector |
 |
EX-DETECT®, Model XD-2, Explosives Detector is a new,
innovative, hand-held (1.5 lbs), rugged, fast
(30sec.) colorimetric screening device for
many different explosives and related
energetic decomposition products, i.e.,
nitro-, nitrato-, and nitramine-, type
explosives. |

The
Vreeland Spectroscope |
 |
The
VREELAND DIRECT-READING SPECTROSCOPES give rapid qualitative and
semi-quantitative elemental analysis. After thirty-six years on
the market it is still selling and there are over 1,000 in the field.
It is used widely in the geological and mining industries and for
teaching mineralogy and inorganic chemistry at the Community College
and University level. It was invented by John Hoyte's uncle, Dr.
Frederick Vreeland while in his late eighties. He was also the holder
of over 50 patents including the 1906 patent for the basic oscillator. |

Air
Sampling Pumps |
PAS-500
 |
For
environmental monitoring, Spectrex manufactures pumps for OEM applications,
such as the CEA high-sensitivity, formaldehyde analyzer, as well
as Personal Air Samplers for both low flow, VOC monitoring and high
flow asbestos, lead and gravimetric monitoring. The PAS-500 is a
little bigger than a pen, fits in the shirt pocket and will run
for 40 hours on one 9V alkaline battery. It was used extensively
in the World Trade Center clean-up. |

Gas
Monitors |
SXC-20
 |
For
VOC and OZONE Detection. The SXC-20 VOC Monitor combines the multi-gas
detectability of the heated metal oxide chip with the portability
of the Spectrex personal air sampler design and data logger. |
Ozone
Monitor
 |
The
AZ21ZX ozone monitor provides digital read-out and detects ozone
down to 0.02 ppm. |
| |
The
PC-2200 Laser Particle Counter |
 |
Counts
and sizes particles from 0.5 to 100 µm in diameter in both
flowing and in-situ liquids. Unique from all other particle counters
on the market, it provides sealed calibration standards and does
not require the sample to be pumped through a flow cell. It is extremely
easy to use and can be directly interfaced to any Windows-based
computer.Spectrex is the present assignee of Patent # 4,623,252
covering this specific, unique design for in-situ particle counting. |
| |
The
PS-50 Partascope Viewer |
 |
Consists
of a small, battery-operated "Black Box," 6"x 6"x
7", which internally generates two parallel, scanning laser
beams. Samples of water, oil or other liquid are introduced by beaker
or bottle. Through Fraunhoffer Diffraction particles in suspension,
as small as 1µm diameter, are made visible directly to the
human eye. The two laser beams permit comparison of a sample with
standards, or of pre- and post-filter samples. |

Water
/ Oil Analysis Service |
 |
This
division of Spectrex Corporation operates a laboratory at the Redwood
City facility and provides particle size and counting for all types
of liquids. Customers are impressed by our "next-day"
turn around. Results are faxed, mailed or sent as a PDF file and
are displayed as a 34-channel histogram and in the form of one of
a wide range of standards, such as ISO, NAS, SAE and NSF. The Total
Suspended Solids Value is also shown. |
